The Convert Calculator Group

Our rpsoft 2000 convert program keeps on expanding and adding even more features.  The image here is a grouping of some of its major screens, shown of course at a much smaller size than in actual usage.  The latest calculator addition is a business calculator (center) that features a simulated paper tape output - that shows calculations and that you can actually print.   Looking at the screens for the other 5 calculators, and going around counter-clockwise from top left, we have the other calculators:  (1) blue background - metric /hex/temp/sigma calculator (2)  Green- gray background - loan / mortgage / interest calculator (3) blue background (bottom left) - Quality calculator with sigma, temp, availability, repair rate, mtbf, more, (4) Chinese Calculator - this one for fun - approximates Chinese New Years (5) yellow background - a custom calculator - that you program for your special needs.  Continuing still in the counter clockwise direction are (6) gray background - programming screen for the custom calculator and (7) the amortization schedule -white background - that keys of course from(2) the mortgage loan calculator screen.

some specific details on the calculators:

Business Calculator:  This one is new, and yet has quickly become our favorite math calculator!   Instead of trying to be a math calculator that does everything, this one concentrates on business and cash register type functions.  It features a simulated paper tape that shows addition or subtraction (or other functions) by each step.  And yes, you can even print out the results to a normal printer - the default printer on your system.  Great for balancing your checkbook, or even as a simplified cash register math calculator with tax and change assistance.  Also includes 10 memory locations that are visible to help you remember which memory value is which.

Metric Calculator:  Enter data in a text input in any one "area" and hit enter and all the items in that area calculate to their new value.  Some of the areas do mainly metric to English conversions and some are more specific to a function.  These separate "areas" include Weight, Distance, Volume, Temperature, Hexadecimal (to decimal and ascii). and Sigma Quality conversions to PPM defect levels.

Mortgage Calculator:  The main screen has four primary inputs or outputs  of Principal, interest rate, term of loan, and payments.  Input any three (and clear the fourth)  and press enter and the fourth item will be calculated.  Options are many - and include entries for several items in terms of yearly, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily.  Interest can be compounded similarly - from yearly to daily as needed.  And loans can be paid in full or interest only.  Amortization schedule print and save capability included.

Quality Calculator:  Has 6 sigma to ppm calculations and temperature conversion as does the metric calculator, but also includes various methods of measuring and showing failure rate, mtbf (mean time between failures), mttr (mean time to repair) and their tie of failure rate and repair time to overall system availability.   "Availability" is the percentage of time a system or product is working and therefore "available" for usage.  This calculator does not include statistics.  Many hand held calculators will do those functions.  This calculator does several functions that many hand held calculators do not.

Chinese Calendar Calculator:  This one is just a simple approximation and is mostly for fun.  However, it gives an approximation on what year of our normal (Gregorian / Solar) calendar coincides with the animal years of the culture rich Chinese calendar heritage.  Are you still writing "year of the ox?" for the date on your checks?  This one might be for you.

Custom Calculator:  This calculator is one that you can program and use for often needed calculations.  The programming is saved so you can have access to those same calculations always.  Do you need to calculate sales tax?  Currency conversion rates? Commissions? Estimate Jobs?  Look at real estate costing and profit and customer proceeds?  This calculator can be programmed to some of your most often needed calculations.  The program includes samples, help screens, and several example set ups for sales tax, realtors, and a painter cost estimation to help you get started.

Limitations and Cautions: 

Screen Sizes: This program will not play well on a screen set to 480 x 640 pixels.  Any reasonable setting at or higher than 600 x 800 will be fine, including, 600 x 800, 1024 by 768, and reasonable screen settings even higher.  Accuracy is to about 4 significant figures (except for the Chinese Calendar Calculator). With differences in definitions, rounding techniques and the difficulty in testing all possible applications of these calculators, please ensure that you verify both the calculator settings and the appropriateness of their usage for your application.
